Back in March, Brooklyn Beckham turned the big 21 technically, but Victoria Beckham and David Beckham’s eldest received the gift of a lifetime months later – Nicola Peltz, girlfriend of less than a year, agreeing to be his bride.
But here’s the real deal – how exactly did these attractive, talented twenty-somethings go from being Instagram official this past January to a lifetime commitment in the calendar equal of two Bachelor cycles?
Well, they started off with finding out what they didn’t want in a permanent partner.
The daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and his third wife, model Claudia Heffner, having appeared in 2010’s The Last Airbender and 2014’s Transformers: Age of Extinction, first entered the celebrity dating game when she was seen on Justin Bieber’s arm at Beverly Hills’ Mastro’s Steakhouse in May 2016.
Meanwhile, Beckham was more or less born into the spotlight, his soccer sensation dad and pop star mum when he arrived just months before their 1999 vows were arguably Britain’s hottest pair. He’d tried his hand – or feet, rather – at the family business growing up, training at Arsenal’s youth academy, but decided ultimately that he wasn’t ready for a life on the pitch.
A source told the Daily Mail that Nicola has been a big hit with the entire Beckham family and that both Victoria and David have made it clear to Brooklyn just how much they like her.
The British press is having a field day with the possibilities, with no expense deemed too grand for their 2021 vows.
Posh and Becks have tapped pal Gordon Ramsay to head up the catering team and Peltz has already scouted an Italian resort with her future mother-in-law, as reported by The Sun. Peltz’s pop, not to mention, has his own few culinary connections, his Trian Fund Management has invested in the likes of Cadbury, Kraft Foods and Heinz.
When it comes to dress shopping, of course, the groom just might have an in with a certain designer beloved by celebrities – for their engagement shoot, Victoria had already provided Peltz’s wardrobe.
The Daily Mail has already placed the budget at upwards of $5 million, though details are far from solidified, which is hardly outside the realm of possibly for two families who have millions on their hands.
This is of course, the goal. Beckham, at just 21, is planning for the long haul with his sweetheart. An insider told The Sun that everyone is delighted for the couple, adding that Brooklyn has always had that particular admiration to his parents and grandparents, who have been married for 70 years combined – and that’s exactly what he wants.
